Of course, in a series like this, we expected the clash of cultures between the coldly efficient doctor and the quirky little town to be the main storyline, but it is the diversity of their quirkiness (some of which will surprise you!) and the inventive medical cases that call the doctor's attention, and the personal incidents that test his patience, that will keep you coming back for more each week. Being a terse, intensely closed, firmly impersonal fellow, he is appalled at the ways of the village people who consider themselves as one big, happy, nosy family. Doctor Martin Ellingham, for a reason that will be revealed later in the series, decides to transplant himself to a seaside village in Cornwall where he spent a few summers as a child with an aunt, who presently runs an organic farm there. The story and graphics on these are, frankly, better than the main quest although they re-use the same hidden object scenes.I thought that the story of an arrogant top-flight London surgeon trying to run a practice in a chummy town in Cornwall would make for a one-note fish-out-of-water series, but instead it has been a delight every week. This become quite repetitive to the point where I found myself simply learning where the objects are.Īs for highlights, I was surprised on a couple of occasions to be greeted with a mini-story in the form of limited-time events. Second, the hidden object scenes aren't tied to the environments or story in any way, and although they do try to mix them up with new modes (like mirroring the scene, finding duplicate objects, and more) these must be replayed a LOT. That said, I've got two nitpicks: First, the game has a timer mechanic that feels at odds with the relaxing experience I expect, although you can use some "cheats" you collect along the way to mitigate it. It's Where's Waldo for grown-ups, and a nice way to unwind. The main appeal of hidden object games for me is that searching for objects in a cluttered scene is a strangely relaxing experience. Who as a franchise, the main quest is entertaining enough. The graphics and music are great, as typical for the genre, and while I'm not familiar with Dr. I'm glad that a hidden object game has finally made its way to Apple Arcade, and hope this is only the first of more to come.
